WEGMANS FOOD MARKETS INVITES NORTHEAST SHOPPERS TO GET WILD WITH GULF COAST SHRIMP

Gulf Seafood Marketing Coalition partners with Wegmans to bring wild-caught Gulf Coast shrimp in February and March

TAMPA, FLORIDA (February 2, 2015) – The Gulf Seafood Marketing Coalition (www.eatgulfseafood.com) and Wegmans Food Markets are partnering to offer its shoppers wild-caught shrimp from the Gulf of Mexico, just in time for spring grilling. Wegmans will invite shoppers to “Get Wild with Gulf Shrimp” by featuring delicious Gulf Coast shrimp on select dates in February and March.

Each of the 85 Wegmans stores will offer cooking demos to educate shoppers how to pan-sear Gulf Coast shrimp to enhance its delicious flavor. POS materials for shoppers to enjoy will include “Get Wild with Gulf Shrimp” overhead hanging ceiling signs, balloons, hats and stickers. Shoppers will be able to continue the celebration at home with their families by purchasing Gulf Coast shrimp family-pack in the following varieties:

  • FROZEN: Wegmans 2lb Wild-Caught Uncooked Shrimp Bag
  • FROZEN: Wood’s Fisheries EZ-Peel Wild American Shrimp 2lb Bag
  • SERVICE: Wild EZ-Peel Shrimp

“Wegmans has a history of providing the freshest ingredients to our customers, helping to make their meal choices easy and affordable. The Gulf Seafood Marketing Coalition has been a great partner with us in the past, and has allowed us to bring to our shoppers flavorful Gulf Coast shrimp that has been wild-caught along our Gulf Coast,” said Dave Wagner, Wegmans Vice President of Seafood Merchandising. “We hope that shoppers will learn new cooking techniques using Gulf Coast shrimp as we move into spring season.”

This is the second time that the Gulf Seafood Marketing Coalition has partnered with Wegmans. The Coalition collaborated with Wegmans last fall to provide delicious and quick menu ideas for late-summer gatherings and back-to-school meals.

The dates in which the promotion will run are as follows:

  • New York stores - Feb. 6-8, 2015
  • Massachusetts, New Jersey, and Pennsylvania stores - Feb. 27 to Mar. 1, 2015
  • Virginia and Maryland stores - Mar. 13-15, 2015
